ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Executive Poetry Editor

​

The Executive Poetry Editor is expected to oversee the poetry editorial staff and process, lead virtual discussions about submissions, occasionally review assigned submissions, and work closely with the editor-in-chief.  

 

Executive Prose Editor

​

The Executive Prose Editor is expected to oversee the prose editorial staff and process, lead virtual discussions about submissions, occasionally review assigned submissions, and work closely with the editor-in-chief. 

​

Poetry Editor

​

Poetry editors work closely with the editor-in-chief and are expected to review assigned submissions regularly and consistently. This includes reaching an editorial decision and providing a rationale. They are also expected to participate occasionally in virtual discussions about pieces.  

​

Prose Editor

​

Prose editors are expected to review fiction and nonfiction (and hybrid) submissions regularly and consistently. Reviewing submissions includes providing an editorial decision and a rationale. They are also expected to occasionally join in on virtual discussions about pieces. Prose editors work closely with the editor-in-chief.

​

Play Editor

​

Play editors are tasked with reviewing and curating screenplay and script pieces for Hominum Journal's issues. This includes providing an editorial decision supported by a strong and clear rationale and communicating with other play editors during the curation of the issue. ​

​

Art Director

​

The art director will work closely with the editor-in-chief and the graphic designer to curate art for the website and for each issue and social media post. They are expected to review art submissions regularly and consistently, communicating with the entire team their pick for the cover art of each issue.

​

Social Media Manager

​

The social media manager will work closely with the editor-in-chief, the art director, and the graphic designer to maintain Hominum Journal's social media presence on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more. The ideal candidate will be experienced in operating on those platforms and managing content.

​

Web or Graphic Designer

​

The web or graphic Designer will work closely with the editor-in-chief, the art director, and the social media manager to maintain the website and create graphics for the website, issue, post, etc. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working on Canva and Wix.

​

Blog Contributor

​

A blog contributor will work closely with the editor-in-chief to produce interviews, reviews, articles, criticisms, etc. for the blog.
